Accessibility Statement
This accessibility statement applies to the website of Chiesi GmbH published at www.chiesi.de.
What is Accessibility?
Web accessibility refers to the ability of computer systems to provide services and usable information without discrimination, including for those who rely on assistive technologies or special settings due to specific disabilities.
The Importance of Accessibility
According to the latest report by the World Health Organization, approximately 15% of the global population lives with a disability. Yet, many websites remain difficult or entirely inaccessible to this roughly one billion people. We believe that everyone has the right to equal access to the internet. That’s why we are committed to making www.chiesi.de as accessible as possible. Our website uses technology that allows users to customize the interface to suit their individual needs and preferences.
The technology
The technology we use is provided by AccessiWay and aims to make our website accessible to people with disabilities such as blindness, visual impairment, cognitive disorders, movement disorders and epilepsy. The Chiesi Group fully shares AccessiWay's mission, which is to "make the Internet an inclusive place, for everyone."
Disability profiles supported on the chiesi.de website
Profile for epileptics: this profile allows people with epilepsy to use the website safely, eliminating the risk of episodes derived from flashing animations and dangerous color combinations.
Profile for visually impaired: this profile adjusts the website so that it is accessible to most people suffering from visual impairments such as degraded vision problems, peripheral vision
problems, cataracts, glaucoma, and others.
Profile for cognitive disorders: this profile provides different assistive features to help people with cognitive disabilities such as autism, dyslexia, CVA, and others, to focus on the important elements of the page in a more fluid and accessible way.
Profile for Attention disorders (ADHD): this profile significantly reduces distractions and noise to help people with ADHD and neurodevelopmental disorders to easily scroll, read, and focus on the essential items.
Screen-reader profile: this profile adjusts the website to be compatible with screen readers such as JAWS, NVDA, Voiceover and Talkback. A screen-reader is always installed on a blind user's computer, and AccessiWay's technology is compatible with this tool.
Keyboard navigation profile (motor disabilities): this profile allows people with mobility impairments to manage the website using the keys Tab, Shift+Tab and Enter, or even using shortcuts such as "M" (menu), "H" (headings), "F" (shapes), "B" (buttons) and "G" (graphics) to get to specific elements.
Further UI, design and readability settings
Font adjustments: our website allows users to increase and reduce the font size, to change the font type, to adjust spacing, alignment, line spacing, and more.
Color adjustments: our website allows users to select different color contrast profiles such as light, dark, inverted and monochrome. In addition, users can customize color combinations for titles, texts and backgrounds, with over seven different coloring options.
Animations: our website allows epileptic users to stop all running animations with a single click. Interface-controlled animations include videos, GIFs, and flashing CSS transitions.
Content Emphasis: our website allows to emphasize important elements such as links or titles and to choose to highlight only focused or suspended elements.
Audio muting: our website allows hearing aids users who may suffer from headaches or other problems caused by autoplay sounds, to instantly mute all audio on the website.
Cognitive impairments: our website enables the use of a search engine linked to Wikipedia and Wiktionary, allowing people with cognitive disorders to search for the meaning of sentences, initials, slang, and others, for a faster understanding.
Other features: our website allows users to change the color and size of the cursor, use a print mode, activate a virtual keyboard, and more.
